SceneIt

A mobile app for discovering trending movies and shows, built with production‑ready UX and real‑time data.

Overview

SceneIt is a mobile entertainment app designed to help users discover trending movies and TV shows, explore cast and synopsis details, and build a personalized watchlist. Created as a capstone project for a mobile development course, the app demonstrates production‑ready UX, multi‑screen navigation, and real‑time data integration. The goal was to design an experience that feels intuitive, visually engaging, and immediately usable without onboarding.

Problem

Movie lovers often struggle to keep track of what they’ve watched, what they want to watch, and where to find it. Existing platforms are either too cluttered, lack personalization, or bury discovery features behind paywalls and algorithms.

Process

Our team of four followed a structured development cycle that mirrored real product workflows, moving from concept to polished implementation.

Proposal Phase

We defined the core product vision, identified essential features, and created UML diagrams to map system behavior. I led the creation of UI mockups in Figma, focusing on hierarchy, navigation patterns, and mobile‑first layout decisions.

Formative Phase

We transitioned into development using Flutter and Dart. During this phase, we implemented key interaction patterns such as dialogs, pickers, snackbars, and notifications. I contributed to designing and refining multi‑screen navigation, ensuring that transitions felt smooth and predictable.

Summative Phase

We polished the UI, optimized performance, and conducted Android device testing. Each team member recorded an individual demo walkthrough to highlight their contributions. GitHub was used for version control, and peer feedback forms ensured equitable distribution of work and accountability.

Throughout the project, I focused on maintaining UX clarity, ensuring that every interaction provided immediate feedback and supported user expectations.
